I just bought some horse treats(the brand is Vive Equine Treats) and it says: Best By 08/2011. Do you think this would upset/make my horses sick? Please, I really need help with this. I don't want my horse to get sick because of a treat!

I bought a bag of cat nip and put some in the whirly toy they have, left the bag on the desk when I came home from work both cats were laying on my desk top and keyboard sleeping and all the catnip was gone. Could that much harm them?
