Help ..... Jenna will not walk up the stairs when we are away from home. She has no physical issues and flys around in the air jumping on and off of things at home, but when she is out, she will walk, but not climb the stairs. What can I do?
It is all types of stairs and it could be only three or four of them.
Pia are you out there? Help us!!!! I think we need a section called ask Pia on this web site!!!

YOU SHOULD CLIMB THE STAIRS FIRST THEN ENCOURAGE HER WITH A TREAT UNTIL SHE BECOMES COMFORTABLE WITH THE STAIRS. THEN SHE WILL REALIZE WITH THE TREAT THAT SOMETHING GOOD COMES FROM BRAVERY ALL THE TIME.THIS WORKED FOR MY DOGS.

I knew a dog like this once. It was a confidence issue with her. Stairs she knew were fine, all others were a source of stress. We just worked a lot with treats and patience.

Use a treat and go to different areas with stairs, and different types of stairs. Use a treat that she doesn't ordinarily get. Use it to keep her attention and entice her up and down the steps.

IT MAY BE THE KIND OF STAIRS AND SHE MAY BE AFRAID TO GO UP THEM.

I was wondering what kind of stairs, are they open where she can see through them? My sheaphard Max wouldn't go down in our basement for years, which are bare wood and open, but he has no problem with going upstairs which are carpeted and enclosed. We had a tornado spotted six miles from our home a few years back, so I grabbed him by the collar to take him to the basement, and when he started to slow down (cause I was moving fast), I didn't give him an option to stop. Once he was down there he was fine. He will now go down on his own now when called but still prefers to stay away from them. Sorry that is not much help.

I think this has more to do with Jenna's belief that she is a princess and should be carried up stairs than any behavior problem. LOL
