Why does my Siamese periodically throw up?

My 6 year old cat does that every once in a while too. It's due to hairballs with him. I just make sure I feed him and "indoor" formula food (it has more fiber or something to help with the hair balls) He also get 3-4 Whiska's brand hairball treats every day. The treats are a million times easier to get in him than the paste stuff and it works just as well. This always seems to clear up the problem. If I run out of treats and he doesn't get them for a week or more he starts puking again... so I know its working!

One major cause of chronic vomiting in cats is hyperthyroidism. If he is still vomiting once in awhile, it wouldn't hurt speaking to your veterinarian about checking his thyroid level. In addition, it is recommended that senior cats visit their vet at least once a year for bloodwork for early screening for senior disease onsets.

Maybe he has hair clogging up his digestive tract... one of mine has that problem. Instead of coughing up hairballs, she throws up because the food can't get through the tight space in her gut.

That digestive treatment stuff (kinda like toothpaste) works wonders in slicking the tract up and helping the food go down right.
