I know someone who cared for rescued monkeys that people couldn't handle. They can be very vicious and their bites are really bad. If not raised right they end up in cages for the rest of their lives. Raising them is like having a 2 year old for 20 years. They can't be left alone, they poop everywere ( and throw it for fun)or be in a diaper (which they take off so they can throw poop). I know it can be done, but it's a HUGE commitment.

truthfully, I think a pet monkey would be a really bad idea. they are illegal to own as a pet in 9 states, not sure if the one you're in one that is illegal. they require a heck of a lot of social interaction, like all the time, a lot more than the average human can give. They have a lot of social and emotional needs. There are also several deadly diseases you can get from your pet monkey and several you can give to him.

Before you decide you want a monkey, do some research. I understand that they live a LONG time and can require a lot of care. Also, check out the rulse and laws reagarding keeping primates in your town. Many areas don't allow it due to possible disease transmision.
Good luck!

I want a pet monkey myself but i dont think it is legal to have exotic animals as pets anywhere in the USA. I will try to do some research and get back to you if someone else dont before I do.
