I love traveling up and down California to dog events! It's like a perpetual car trip with my best buddy!

When we took Lucky to Yellowstone. She really enjoyed the animals and got to hear her cousins the wolves howl. She also got to spend some time in the outdoors hiking, swimming, and just having fun.

I also really enjoy when we go up to the cabin with both pups. They both love the lake and all the wildlife in the area.

We used to live in Branson, Missouri which is an easy 300 miles away from St. Louis, where our family lives. We would make the drive back and forth many, many times, which is easily a four hour drive. At first my girl, Jamie, would run around the whole car and wouldn't stay still, so we have to get her a harness and tie her down. Eventually she'd learn that car rides were usually very long, and she'd start to sleep the whole time. Then it got to the point where she'd get excited but settle down very quickly when we were in the car, and I didn't even need to restrain her to keep her still anymore. Of course, now when the car starts to shift down/slow down, she knows the sound of the car slowing and knows it usually means we're stopping, getting close to, or are at our destination so she may get a little excited again, but now all I have to say is "Jamie, lie down" and she does great and listens very well.

Charlie has NEVER given me a problem; he's the perfect example of a good travelling buddy! He likes laying on the floor behind our seats, even when there is no room. We'll put him on the seat and he always gets down on the floor. He never moves, never gets up, and doesn't exit the car without our OK first.

So in general since we've travelled with them so much, my best travel experience was when she finally learned not to jump around the vehicle for the four hour drive :)

Last Thanksgiving before we added Karlie to the family we drove from Dallas, Texas to Garrett, Indiana with Anna. We stayed overnight at a hotel and she had a blast sniffing everything. She was terrific in the car and after a long day of driving the first day was anxious to get back in the car. She LOVES to go for rids.
