Are toccidia and coccidia the same thing?
update: the vet that I took my goats to definitely said toxidia and then the person that I purchased my goats from definitely said coccidia so I'm confused.

I don't think Toccidia is anything but a misspelling of Coccidia. It wasn't in any veterinary dictionary or book I looked in. I did read several posts by people who thought their vets said toxidia when they actually said coccidia. I would call my vet to be sure & have him clarify.

coccidia is a microscopic parasite that infests the intestines of animals. toxidia is a genus of insects called skippers...they look like moths. when i did a search for toxidia there were forums talking about it in their dogs, but it sounds like they mistook the word coccidia.
