I have 5 cats, but only one with food allergies and would like a general food for all--no grains.

Some ppl have mentioned Evo. That's what we feed our 2 cats, one a kitten and one a cat who needs to lose weight. It is working well for both of them; no health problems, shiny coats and clean teeth, and they enjoy eating it.

Do you know what specific food your cat is allergic to? I have a cat that is allergic to chicken, which is one of the most common ingredients in cat food. I searched and found a dry food that doesn't contain chicken, so all 3 cats can eat the same food....no prescription diets. There are several brands that have single protein and carbohydrate sources for cats with food intolerances or allergies. You can ask you local pet store which brands have limited ingredients. If you're looking for grain-free, there are quite a few on the market now. I've also heard good reviews about Innova Evo, but I've never used it with my cats, so I can't speak from personal experience. Good luck with your search! I've been there, so I understand how difficult it is to feed multiple cats the same food when one has a food allergy.

We use Before Grain. It provides a diet rich in high quality meat and bio available nutrients the way nature intended. Before Grain believes a diet based primarily on fresh meat, blue fruit, nutrient dense vegetables and high-quality oils contributes to overall health and longevity and supports healthy weight naturally.

completely grain free? Merrick B.G. (Before Grain), Innova Evo, Wellness Core, Orijen, all are great. Although not entirely grain free, I would also put Blue Buffalo Wilderness in that group, as I think it's optimal nutrition and extra supplements more than make up for the inclusion of a little bit of oats.

I've never tried it myself, but I've heard good things about Eagle Pack food (eaglepack.com) as I used to work in a pet boutique. They are definitely on the higher end of pet foods, but you pay for quality with this one. If you go to their Web site, you can browse their cat foods and see which one might fit your poor allergic kitty's needs. I know they also have a whole line of holistic foods, so that might work well.
Good luck!
