What do you recommend to stop my neutered male cat from marking my good furniture?

Something i use with my cat who sprays when he gets mad (cuz its too cold to go out and we wont let him)we have made a 50% water and 50% white vinager solution and spray it on the legs of your furniture, it wont hurt anything it just gives them the nasty smell that tells them not to do anything there

hi Becky!! I just saw that you asked the question and even though I have dont not have an official answer, I was just wondering was he acting out from the loss of your other kitty? Is it possible is is upset?

Feliway works wonders on my cat as far as calming him down in a stressful situation. It may help out in your situation. Try to get rid of the odor where he has sprayed already. This way it won't entice him to do it again.

I recommend a product called feliaway. It is a feline pharamone that sometimes helps. start with the spray and if it works go to the atomizers. good luck!

I'm sorry--I went through this too. A good soak with one of the enzyme cleaners and then a scrub with a good brush will help get rid of the stains and odor. Although if it is on cushions or somehthing very thick, replacement may be the only option.

As far as the spraying itself, a woman I met walking her dogs told me to try this. I was skeptical and it did take a while, but it works. A synthetic pheremone diffuser in the area along with spraying the areas he has marked twice a day for a couple weeks may take care of the problem entirely. It didn't work for me, so I had to do the 'whole program'. Put a litter box in the area where he is marking and try to catch him in the act. When you do, don't punish him or yell, just pick him up and put him in the box. When he uses the box, lots of praise and treats. It takes a while, but it does work. Good luck.

Have you ever tried feilaway. It is cat phermone product that is calming. Do a google search.

We have had success with it. Also i would get something that can get the smell from the furniture.
