I had my pony microchipped and it cost me $35 for the kit and another 15 for the vet to implant it.

In Austin and Georgetown Texas at the Animal Shelters it cost $10 per animal and is required if your dog is picked up loose.

It depends where you get it done. My vet charged me $45, which I later found out was ALOT to pay for it but I live in the mountains and everything costs a little more. I would go to your regular vet and get it done though.

My vet only charged $25 when I did my Mastiff & Lab. I always have her "read" the chip when I bring them in for their checkups to be sure it's working properly. I know if, God forbid, they got loose, that their chip would save their lives. I believe all pounds & humane societies now have chip readers, as it has finally caught on with more pet owners... for sure spend the money & get them chipped. Your vet should do it-I watched when they did it & there is no way you could do that yourself!

The cost is variable and you'll need to check your local facilities....low cost spay/neuter clinics should be the cheapest, and several communities sponsor "chip" days. The costs are pretty much others have answered, and I strongly recommend that you do it

State laws dictate whether it must be done by a vet. Some states consider it a veterinary procedure while others do not. Shelters here can microchip a shelter animal but not an owned animal. You should check with state law. The cost varies from $25 to $40 at a low cost clinic.

It's usually pretty cheap - between $25 - $50 depending on your vet.
