I completely agree with MaxxieBrown. I've never heard of an spca acting that way. I think maybe you should volunteer there, for one, to record the issues and problems and stuff they're doing/not doing, and use it to try to change it, and 2, to get some hands on experience.
I'm also going to school to be a vet tech.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do, but I would definitely try to have them investigated!

I would have someone investigate the duties of your local spca. I would throw a big fit about it if I were you!!

THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! That is NOT how an ASPCA should be ran. You need to contact the state, that is a non profit organization for animals and they have rules to follow and they are not following them at all. I would right a letter to a governor or senator of your state. It really does work, I've done it on many occausions in multiple states about things that I disagreed with and for the most part they were fixed. Also, is there another one within driving distance of you? If so try volunteering there or what about just an animal shelter or vet clinic, does it absolutely have to be an ASPCA, if so you could also try talking to your teachers and tell them your reasoning, they'd probably understand. I most certainly do.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to volunteer there. But use it as a double mission. Record the problems that go on and have them investigated. That is not how I envision how an ASPCA is supposed to operate.
