does your dog get "wound up" right before it's time to go to sleep? Our puppy, Randy, does every night! He could have been at the park for hours, running outside with his sister, etc., yet he still has to play with toys, chew on rawhides, etc., just as we're all falling asleep. My husband feels this is because satos were essentially wild dogs and had to fend for themselves more safely at night. Thoughts?

They're MOONSTRUCK! And it's a full moon!

And it's not just puppies, my dogs are two and older but they go thru this a couple times a day, any time of the year. But tonight is an especially rambunctious night probably because I didn't turn the lights down early enough because they just went thru frenzy session #3 in honor of the full moon.

It could be because of all the activity getting ready for bed. Does the dog sleep with you? If he does then crate training could be the answer since the crate is cave like they think of it as a safe haven and comfort zone. Crate training is easy with lots of info out there,

I have experienced the same problem myself. I believe that puppies begin to become excited when everyone else is settling down for the night. It could have something to do with the puppy seeking attention, also.

Caly, I cannot give you a firm answer as to why puppies have this energy burst every evening. Typically it is around 8:30ish! But I can tell you that most puppies do it and it is absolutely normal although sometimes annoying!
