I'll agree that a vet is your best option. Another thing to look for is if there is an kind of poison or cleaning products they could be getting into. If they go outside it can be more difficult to investigate if they are getting into something. Even if it's not at your house, they could be venturing to the neighbors

My advice would be to see a vet. In addition to FIP and distemper, there could be any number of reasons for the sudden death including parasites such as giardia and coccidia. However, you would have noticed something wrong with the stool. It is sad but true that approximately 50% of kittens die for a variety of reasons and there is nothing that you could have done to prevent this from happening. Good luck! Distemper or FIP can sause death pretty suddenly!
