Sudden death in active kittens

Urgency:Need to know

Hi... My little brother and I found a litter of kittens in the middle of July, the mama cat would just leave them all be gone for days so we decided to take care of them, they were able to eat when we found them we believe they were probably about 6 weeks old. We kept exceptionally good care of them. The first one was found dead on the porch and she semmed very healthy and I found a small piece of paper by her head and figured she had been chewing on it and that it caused her death.
Just yesterday I found two more dead and just an hour before that they were playing, eating, and acting fine. What could be leading to this? We have two more kittens left and they were acting sort of slow for at least two hours after I found the other two... but they started acting fine after that and are still good today.. we gave them worm medicine last night. Does anyone know why this is happening and if the other two are at risk?

I'll agree that a vet is your best option. Another thing to look for is if there is an kind of poison or cleaning products they could be getting into. If they go outside it can be more difficult to investigate if they are getting into something. Even if it's not at your house, they could be venturing to the neighbors

My advice would be to see a vet. In addition to FIP and distemper, there could be any number of reasons for the sudden death including parasites such as giardia and coccidia. However, you would have noticed something wrong with the stool. It is sad but true that approximately 50% of kittens die for a variety of reasons and there is nothing that you could have done to prevent this from happening. Good luck! I hope the other ones are ok. Thanks for taking care of these babies!

Have you had them to the vet? I would get them in ASAP if you haven't already. Any answers we might give you here would simply be a best guess sort of thing and that could cost your remaining kittens their lives. Good luck!
