Random Freshwater Fish Question

I recently rehabbed my 150 gal saltwater tank for freshwater (pump went out and pet sitter didn't notice - long story but I came home to a bunch of dead fish). I'm putting in my first three fish tomorrow, 2 gold gouramis and one electric yellow cychlid. They're going to be teeny compared to the tank, but it's still cycling so have to be careful. My question is -- what are some interesting FW fish that I can buy small and will grow in size? And will not die if the temp goes up/down a degree? And are in the semi aggressive category? I do have a smaller FW tank 29 gals, but all the fish there are either peaceful or too old to bother. I'm unfamiliar with fun FW fish for bigger aquariums! Thanks!

Ok I'm not really answering your question, but I heard that a 20 gallon tank can weigh 200lbs.I don't know if it's true, but if it is,imagine how much your tank weighs!

Cichlids. Aftican or S. American, thogh my preference is for S. American. Oscars, Jack Dempseys. Green Terrors, Firemouths, Snooks, all hardy, semi-aggressive to aggressive South American cichlid species.
