I have had a couple of instances where some of my cats had a reaction to a vaccination. Sometimes, it is considered less stressful for the cat to get their vaccinations when they go in for the neuter or spay surgery. Your question did not mention if if the injection site was from vaccinations or if it was from the general anesthesia. I would recommend watching to see if the swelling gets worse or looks abcessed (inflamed and swollen like a cyst). By all means, if it is getting worse, take her back to your vet. If you have to take your cat back to the vet to have her staples or stitches removed, be sure to have your vet check the swelling. My vet usually does post-op checks after two weeks from the date of the surgery.

what is going on is she is probably having a reaction to the "internal" sutures. This is normal. When the outside sutures are removed by your vet (10 days post surgery) I'm sure they will tell you this. Very rarely there will be a hemotoma, but VERY rare. If you are still concerned, you can apply a warm compress at the incision site twice daily.

yah that happens sometimes especially if your cat is really active. It also may take quite a while for the swelling to go down, so don't worry. As long as their is no puss coming out of the site, is not red, and the incision doesn't open up. Just try to keep her from jumping up and down off from tall surfaces.

When I had my cat spayed she got a big swollen lump, it was about the size of an egg. I called my vet and they said it sounds like the body's reaction to something traumatic like surgery. They told me to wait a few days, if it gets worse to bring her in. My cat's lump when down about a week and a half to two weeks after her surgery. =)

When you say it's at the injection site, do you mean where they had the IV? Our dogs have had hematomas where they've had IVs or blood drawn. Those aren't a problem. If it's on the incision I'd definitely have it checked out. Either way, if it makes you feel better, bring her to your vet (or at least call them). A follow-up with anything unusual should be part of what you pay to have your pet spayed.
