We just lost a young kitten at school to FIP, he had the wet form and it sounds as though your baby may have the wet form, too. It isn't super contagious unless your cats are swapping bodily fluids or sneezing in each other's faces. I would try to keep your baby separate from the rest of your cats and wash your hands every time after handling him.
Cats can be carriers go for years without showing any signs and suddenly come down with it one day.
Treatment is only symptomatic unfortunately so just keep a very close eye on your friend and talk with your vet about options.
I'm very sorry to hear this... since the exposure at school I am deathly afraid of bringing it home to my cats, especially since another kitten from the same litter at school is also starting to display signs of FIP.

I agree with Brea - FIP - Feline infectious Peridonitis, a nasty disease. Talk to your Vet as treatment is questionable. If push comes to shove, always think of the comfort and care of the fur-child first. It is always rough to see a well loved animal lose ground. I too am sorry that your Telly is ill.

Search in Journals for one titled "MEOW 2 IS DYING". "Percysmom" wrote a very good explanation of FIP. You can even do the search at the top of this page and where it says "all" click down to "Journals" and search the word "FIP". I'm very sorry for what you are going through. There are others on this site going through the same thing and maybe some of what they've said and has been said to them can help you too. Again, I'm so sorry that your pet is ill.
