Male or Female Border Collie?

I own a male border collie. I was wondering if there were any differences in a male and female border collie as far as temperment or other behavioral differences in the two? I have never had much luck with female dogs of other breeds, I have found female dogs to respond better to my husband than to myself as far as training. Can anyone give me some insight to female border collies, I know they are so different than other breeds.

Border collies are extremely intelligent dogs. They are suppose to be number one in the dog world for intelligence. They also have to be kept busy. Females do tend to be a wee bit more passive. They are all about the same as long as they feel they have a job and are kept busy. Something as simple as tugging a rope. When one praises them be sure to use a high pitch to your voice. Borders especially love the high pitch in a voice. As Christy stated they truly live for praise. They learn so quickly as well. The males are a bit more dominate and territorial then the females. Much of their behaviour depends on the owner. Praise and love them and you will have the most devoted and loving dog you will ever have.

i have two male and one female border collie. i don't see much difference between the temperment of the gender. the one thing i have noticed is males are more dominant.(the jumping, humping and nipping) I do know that you must be stern with a border collie. A deep woice is a more commanding voice which is why she listened to your husband better. Deepen your voice when giving a command and praise her when she does good. they love praise. dont put up with any bad behaviors. it can quickly lead to an obsession if left alone. A border collie is a working dog and usually needs a firm owner and lots of excercize.

I have a female border collie, but since I have never had a male border collie, I don't know if there are any differences in training and temperment between the two. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
