I've just adopted an 8yr old pug, and I want to take her to a vet here in Queens, NY. Does anyone have any suggestions? I went to Dr. Fish and Paoloni in Woodhaven, but Fish is too harsh, and Paoloni is a little out of my price range. Can you help?

Steve/Samantha,
Have you tried this web site?

My first choice would be a referral from someone you know. Secondly you can take your pet to a park where other dogs are and ask the owners who they would recommend. Third try www.LocalVets.com enter your zip and it will give you a list of vets in the area. Do not be afraid to call and ask about pricing. I would even go there to ask for pricing and watch what is happening around me. Are they friendly? Are they attentive to the animals needs? Do they listen to you when you speak or do they just talk down to you? Do they remember their regulars and their pet's names? How long have they been in business? What year did the vet graduate?
This is just a sample of questions I thought of and I'm sure there are plenty more. Most important is the visual experience and what type of experience are their clients having.
