I wonder...

I think our community will continue this whether or not we win the million. This contest has really brought the needs of our shelter out in the open. Two teen girls brought awareness to the contest late in the game. We have moved from 859th place to #1. Even before the contest we knew they had dire needs, but now even more people are aware. I think they definitely will have more active supporters now.

Take a look at the HSCC zootoo page ... those in the top twenty are those who spend a great deal of time at the shelter and HSCC events (with a few exceptions).

Actually, I'm surprised at the ground swell of support this contest has gotten. I would hope many of the people willing to put hours into this also donate and give their time as a volunteer. I myself direct a fundraiser which came about because I was motivated to create this event for my dog. (See my event Hounds and Harriers Run).

I got a chuckle from your putting this question in the "Behavior and Training" category.

The best answer to this question is to direct you to google and see what last year's winner is doing. They have an active campaign to raise a second million dollars to match the Zootoo money.

It seems like a lot of the people here already help out and I hope more will too!

Let's hope so. The amount of time we've been spending in accumulating points could be better spent.

I know a number of people that have been involved with the contest on zootoo are people who already were volunteering in different ways for our local shelter. However, as far as lobbying, maybe only a fraction of them were people involved in that aspect.

I honestly don't think even half of them will continue to make as much of efforts. But even if a small percentage do, that's probably more than before.

I hope that everyone continues to work for the animals and causes that they so deeply believe in.

Unfortunately I doubt it's done much. Just increased the number of people applying this week for PetCo PALS cards.
I did sign up to start fostering for the sheleter I supported in the Makeover contest.
