My sister brought this cute cheerleder outfit for our new puppy. My husband and I would like to know is it wrong to dress a dog up? Thanks again!

I think it's comical and giggly. My reasoning is -- is there reasonable usefulness in dressing them? To keep them warm, for example, or putting shoes on them to protect their feet when outdoors, is another example. The next question is this -- does anyone get hurt when dressing an animal? Does the animal get hurt? Do others get hurt? Depending on your answers, you take it from there. Remember, the animal comes first -- so, if you're hurting the animal, it's not a good idea to dress them / if your are NOT hurting the animal, then it's ok, if that's your taste.

it depends on the garment. some articles restrict movement and serve no purpose than to look cute. pet clothes were originally designed to add warmth to the breeds that need it, and in that sense, they're appropriate. but if this cheerleader outfit is actually counteractive and getting in the way, then your husband may have a point.
also, avoid clothing your dogs in warm weather. they have a fur coat on year round!

Looks like I'm in the minority here. The only clothes I think dogs should wear are sweaters or booties for the cold. My pomeranian has enough fur and the Florida winters aren't even that cold to need them. Dogs need to smell each other. Clothes block that natural behavior. Just my opinion.

I think it is ok to dress up dogs if they do not mind it. It also sometimes has to be done on smaller dogs because they can get cold quickly, my mom and I recently had to purchase a coat for my brothers small daushhound.

I think it is cute to see the little dogs dressed up. I had gotten sweatshirts and tee shirts for my dog when he was little... Now he is too big? But I do have collars and ties and bow ties and bandanas for him to wear when we go somewhere.

I think it is OK as long as the dog is comfortable and doesn't seem to be bothered. I would not let my dogs run around in the Florida heat, for example, with heavy clothes on, but it can be cute on special occassions or if it is cold.

I don't think it's wrong unless the clothes irritate the dog or you go really overboard. Otherwise, it's okay.

Well I dress up my dog but not in tight, itchy and obviously uncomfortable clothes. Try some clothes on your dog and if he/she resists DO NOT buy any clothes for your dog. this makes the dog unhappy and he/she may start to resent you even though you are trying to make them look cute. (most toy dogs HATE being dressed up.)
