Is it okay to feed ferrets fresh vegetables?

As everyone has stated, ferrets are absolutely carnivores. They require more protein than both cats and dogs. My ferret loved the "8 in 1 ferret treats". She also loved a dab of the Ferretvite in a tube. I used to put it on a spoon and let her lick it up while I trimmed her nails. She loved it so much she didn't even realize that her nails were being clipped. Ferret's are also crazy about raisens. It's obviously not the best treat but I gave it to mine as an extra special treat. I know a lot of other ferret owners also use them for the occasional treat.

Ferrets are obligate carnivores; that is, they are obligated by their make-up to consume meat, it is what they thrive on. Some ferrets do develop a sweet tooth for fruits, and in small quantities is fine, but ferrets in the wild will consume rabbits, mice, pretty much any creature of equal or smaller size that they can catch. The small amount of vegetable matter in the stomach that a ferret consumes is just the right amount for their diet. Feed fresh (or partially cooked) meats along with raw bones for a good diet. And as always, it is suggested to always consult a good small animal veterinarian who has working knowledge of your pet.

Always check with the Vet first, I don't know much about ferrets but i know people think rabbits, I know their not the same, love veggies especially carrots and lettuce, I had a rabbit for years and HATED carrots and lettuce can really make them sick, so go on a good web or make a simple call to your Vet, and I hope you have a really good exotic animal Vet, make a big difference

DO not give your Ferrit Fruits and veggies! They are carnivores and do not have the propper enzymes to digest plant matter, which can cause them to get very sick.Any treat you provide for your ferrets should be meat based like kibble.
