I see nothing wrong with it, but good luck with people doing it. Maybe not on purpose, they may not see the sign or don't bother to read it. Have you tried training the dog to stay. It's not hard. When we have quests that are allergic or not dog people(like my mother-in-law)The dogs (3 of them) are trained not to cross the invisible line from the kitchen to the rest of the house. Even the puppies got it. Treats are a great way to do it. Everytime the door opens and the dogs stays give a treat. Maybe you can get some customers to do the same. To the dog it means don't go out the door I get FOOD. You may end up with a fat dog, but he'll stay in.

I've seen signs like this before. "Don't let the cat out" usually. I don't see anything wrong with it. It lets people know that there's a dog they have to watch out for. Have you thought of changing your door so it automatically swings shut?
