Ever think of just trying to teach her in another language. I knew someone who actually trained their dog in sign language

Maybe you can go to your public library and check out a book on dog tricks. I would start with the basic tricks like sit, stay, rollover, play dead,etc... Then whenever your dog knows all of those tricks start with maybe harder tricks. Whenever your dog does a trick correctly give him/her a treat and say "Good!"

Well this isn't techinically a trick but it's fun to help your dog learn basic needs. I love to play hide and seek with my dog. all i do is i started letting him watch where i put the treat or his fav toy, then i made him not watch and let him sniff it out but when i hid it he was in the same room, now he satys in a different room and comes out to find it. it's good for a lot of things like listening skills as well!

I've always believed in my dog being a part of the family, consequentially, she has been taught the manners children learn in a household like returning toys to the toy bin. We skipped the traditional "Sit, speak, paw" and went for more fun options like "BangBang" = play dead, "Freeze" = stand on hind legs. I've learned if you tie a towel to any handle your dog can open close and pull most things. Our game is pick up sticks (great if you have to mow the lawn).
My neighbors kids have taught Hide and Seek and Freeze Tag.
Your neighborhood probably has a obstacle training course which I what I'm doing with our 7 year old pup next!

My dog knew how to "give paw" and also find which hand the treat is in. I would put a treat in one of my hands and hold them out, he would then "pick" which one the treat was in (people loved that one). He also knew how to close the door. We let him out on the porch and left the door cracked so he could get back in. he would open the door and turn around and close it behind him when he came back inside (saved us from having to get up to shut it all the time). We used to have a golden retriever that would get a beer out of the fridge and bring it to us. That's about all i can think of at the moment!
