i am a first time guinea pig buyer

On occasion Super Walmarts will have small habitats for pets such as guinea pigs. They also carry the basics for their care like bedding, food, vitamin additives for their water and Timothy hay which they need often. You can also pick up a pet care book on guinea pigs at walmart from time to time as well to help get you started with their basic needs. Initially they can be costly to get all the stuff they need but after getting the basics they are a very inexpensive pet to have and lots of fun with great personalities. We have had one for a couple of years now and just love her.

If you have a PETCO nearby then I would recommend stopping there ! They will match most prices and their customer service is great.
