My 2 year old lab has just started barking at any animal on the tv. He used to stay home with animal planet on when I wasn't home. Now he is jumping, barking and trying to paw. It doesn't sound aggressive but it's not a habit I want to stick around. He has been thru 2 stages of obedience classes.

Experts say the best way to stop a dog from barking is to teach them to bark on command and then to stop. Makes sense. Basic obedient training can make a dog do whatever you want wilh a simple command. Be firm and consistant. You can use a reward of any kind when he does what you ask.

My Lab does it to TV or dogs walking down the street, I ignore it and she eventually stops, although I never correct her from barking at someone out on the street and she is inside, hubby was a cop & told by other cops don't correct them best deterrent there is the person outside doesn't know if you have one that will take a leg off or roll over for a belly rub, and if they know you they know your dog
