How has shelter fundraising gone this year?

Our fundraisers appeared to raise the same amount, however the shelter had a large up swing in pets being turned over from owners who could no longer afford to care for them.

We actually saw a slight increase during our annual Black Cats and Broomsticks event this year. Our sponsorship to the event went down some, but the money we made from the silent auction went up. Where we usually get cat food closed down and once the community found out, we have seen an outpouring of donations. People have really rallied around us. We are very appreciative of them!

Our shelter is recovering from years of bad management and bad financial tracking. The past negative image has probably hampered us more then anything else. This image has begun to change more positively in the community so I believe has helped us overall. Regular fund raising as well as new marketing tactics has put us on the path of increasing our fund raising revenue. Considering the state of the economy I think this is a rather encouraging benchmark.

It'll be interesting to see the final numbers, but our yearly newsletter seems to be persuading people to donate. Fortunately for economic backwaters like northeastern Oklahoma, Wall St collapses do not affect them QUITE as forcefully as in other places whose economic activities are more immediately connected to the financial system.

we have had a mixed reaction in fund raising this year. One event we held did not make as much as last year, yet our holiday bazaar made a thousand more than last year. We serve 5 towns and find that one town in particular spends more of thier money with another rescue. But otherwise I think we will be on an even road.

Each of the HSCC events this past year seemed to generate more funds than they had in the past. HSCC has one very creative individual that has organized a couple new events that did very well. They also had an art show and sale, where people donated animal-related pieces of art and the sale raised over $3,000.

We support our shelter mostly by bingo and it is really down so we have had to ask the community for more donations and become creative about fundraising. Get a group together and talk about creative ways to fund raise, you may have to work harder but it can be done.
