I would love to someday have my own rescue or shelter for animals, and am looking for all the information I can find for it. If any of you have any great information on doing so, or any tips, I would greatly appreciate it as I do plan on making this dream come true someday, even if it's just a very small rescue! Animals are too important to me, and I want to make a difference for them. I would love to do wildlife rehab too, although there seems to be more information floating around on that. Thanks! :)

first of all i applaud you for wanting ot open a shelter! i think it's pretty easy, it's just like opening a buisness even though it's a lot more work. buy a nice building in nice neighbor hood and then set the "habitats" up inside, then i guess just wait until people need you, of course advertise advertise advertise! but you really should open this shelter i think it's a great thing to do!

I too have always wanted to start an animal rescue of my own. I was on petfinder recently and noticed that they list many animal rescue and shelter groups. One way to get info on how to start a rescue might be to contact several shelters similar to what you would like to start and ask how they did it and for any tips or pointers. Animal rescue people are usually very kind caring people who are willing to share information, ideas, and etc. Petfinders address is www.petfinder.com

I'm not really sure how you would go about starting a shelter, but it's something I've always dreamed of doing. I would assume that you just have to have a good place to keep the animals and enough money to support all of them. Then you probably just need to begin collecting animals, and that shouldn't be too hard. I'm sure there are people with stray cats or kittens or dogs that are running loose and need food and shelter. Good luck, and I hope that you get to start a Shelter or Rescue!
