We had severe thunderstorms with high winds and pelting rains a few days ago here in Georgia. The next day we found out that 7 tornadoes had caused quite a bit of damage.

Our two German Shepherds are scared to death. Suzi used to claw at the outside door until you let her in. Generally, we let them in during bad storms. The kitten could care less about storms.

My two kitties, Pepper & Smokey, both get a little anxious at loud thunder. Other than that, rainy days just mean they can't go out into the courtyard.

My Lhasa could care less about the sounds outside. My Chihuahua is a whole different story, he will hide and shake whenever it is windy and stormy. If things are banging around then he starts barking and it takes a long time for him to calm.

Copper doesn't really mind storms. She just sleeps on the couch or her scratcher.

Daisy our shar pei mix starts shaking and whining before a storm hits so we always have plenty of notice. She tries to hide in a closet, pawing at the doors if they aren't open. We've tried meds but you are suppose to give them 30 minutes before hand but how do you know that? the best way to calm her is to put her on my lap, or in bed with me, and hold her tightly. she's stiff as a board but allows me to hang on to her until the storm is over. She also doesn't like beeping noises--smoke alarms, hammering etc

Well, Miss Kitty could care less.......no amount of thunder or wind makes her hide. The other cat we had , however would run and hide down under the cellar stairs and stay there til the storm was over. My parents dog a JRT, he gets all upset and nervous and goes to hide under a bed! Seems all pets have their own way of coping.

My dog, Shylow, DOES NOT LIKE thunderstorms or anything that produces loud sounds. Her usual reaction is to hide under our bed until all is quiet. There are times when she is so scared that she shakes uncontrollably and dives into my lap. I generally cover her up with a blanket to mute the sound. She then tends to fall asleep. My other two dogs couldn't care less about storms. They will continue to do what they were doing without any regard to the noise.

My Yorkie sleeps right through it. When I had my poodle she knew a storm was coming before we did and would start shaking. One early morning she was especially distraught and within a half hour our town was hit by a tornado.

Dale is the one scared of thunderstorms got to be right with you during the storm. The others don't bother them at all.
