Daisy eats from her bowl in the kitchen, but then carries it to the den. She leaves pieces everywhere and we step on them. It is so annoying!

I have two dogs. My Daisy eats in the kitchen but Ashley carries her food into the living room. I moved her bowl into the living room and sit in there while she eats and she doesn't carry it around anymore. I have wood floors and I stepped on a piece once and slid on it and almost fell down so I understand where you're coming from! Having her bowl next to me totally works though! Also, then I know that Daisy isn't eating whatever Ashley leaves in her bowl.

My 3 do the same thing & so did Maggie. If you figure out how to get them to eat at their bowl please let us all know! Looks like we're all dealing with the same thing.

My dogs do that too... They will take some food ffom the bowl and go else where with it... I'm not exactly sure why they do it. But whereever we put the bowl they just keep doing the same thing they just take it to different areas.

my dog carries her food from the linoleum to the carpet. maybe its just preference. try putting your dog's food dish in the den if that's where he keeps going anyway. if that doesn't work and he takes the food elsewhere, I don't know what to tell ya...

Well, one thing that you might try is picking up her bowl and putting it away when she leaves to take the food into the den. She should make the association that the behavior leads to no food. But like people have been saying - it may just been that she doesn't want to eat by herself. My Riley only seems to eat when I am there. He's funny because he will start to eat and then stop as if to check with me that it's okay he's eating. If I get up and leave the room, he will leave with me.

My dog, Coal, does the same thing with his food and I have just learned to accept it! After watching him carry his food into another room for years, my theory is that he is saving the food for later. Coal will carry several pieces of food from his bowl (in the kitchen) to our office and try to "bury" them in the carpet. I really believe it's just a natural behavior - kind of like burying a bone. If I pick the food up, Coal just "buries" more!

My puppy does the same thing we feed her in the kitchen and when she eats if we are in the living room she will bring it as far as the dinning room just where she can see us. So, when I feed her now I make sure that I am in the kitchen, when she is done I pick up the dish until the next time.
