Great answers, but you may get lucky and have no issues. All I did when I moved here with my dobe was put his dishes and blankie in the van and tell him to get in. He had never seen the house before. Worked out fine. Same thing with my cat I have now. He even tolerated my improvised first night litter of oil dry and shredded newspaper since I did not expect to be having a cat move in.

Cheers to all 3 previous posts. I might only add that if you give your dog tap water the taste could be different if it's coming from a different source and s/he may not want to drink it. If you're using a water purifier it shouldn't be a big problem. But if you don't we used to use a bit of mint oil while still home letting the dog get used to it then move and do the same thing reducing the amount of mint until s/he drinks the regular water.
Hopefully you're using a purifier of some sort so this won't be such a problem. Oh, and by the way, congrats on the new digs...!

How far are you moving? Just a few miles, a few hours or a few days from your current home? You may be able to set up the move as you would something really exciting that your dog likes to go somewhere in the car. Maybe you could actually take your dog to the new place BEFORE you make the big move and let him/her acclimate to it, being sure to heap plenty of praise on pottying outside, staying calm, being curious and happy, and encouraging him/her that everything's going to be just fine!
Hope this helps!

To ease him into the move and keep him on the same schedule; I would try to keep everything in the same order of course locations will be different but if there is something of his in every room and his bedding is set up in the same fashion and you maintain the same schedule he should adjust in good time. I wouldn't wash any of his bedding until he is comfortable just so he doesn't think everything has changed. My first response when moving was to wash everything down so I was starting a new but I stopped myself short when it came to their pillows and bedding. I made sure I had my bed and bedding out and set up and my living room furniture set up without any boxes on them so they could not feel so overwhelmed with everything in boxes all over.

I am moving in a few days into a new construction. Are you in a newly constructed house, or one where people (and possibly other animals) have lived? In our case, we would take our two Westies over and let them play in the house after they pottied on a walk (so we knew they didn't need to go!). We have also heard that leaving a blanket or towel in the house for a few days and then letting the dog use it in his crate or in his bed helps him get used to the scent. As a backup, buy some Nature's Miracle stain and odor remover - it is the best!
