How do I get my pet to play.

My bichon only play with a toy right after a walk. I throw his favorite AKC rabbit toy once and he'll get it .The second time I throw it, he goes halfway and stops. He was rescued from a puppy mill but I do not think that has anything to do with it. What should i do.

I think being from a puppy mill might be the answer, I got a female who was a breeder and she does not know how to play, i keep working with her and she is slowly coming around but it might take time, ive had her for over a year and she is just starting to play, she is however very bossy of my big dogs.

Well unfortunately it might...Puppies in puppy mills face quite a bit of isolation and he is just not used to feeling loved! :( Just be sure to spend lots of time with him and sooner or later he will warm up to you. Also play games that are more interactive than a simple fetch game. He may feel you want him to leave you alone...Just have patience because when he becomes more lovable it will be the BEST feeling in the world that you changed this cute puppy's life around!
