See if the pill can be compounded. I think that is what it is called. Our local drug store will take the pills, ground them up and add some kind of good tasting thing and my dogs loved taking their pills. We did this with Harlem who could pick out a pill no matter what it was in.
Other than peanut butter on beef jerky. Yes, sounds gross, but that worked great.

My dog Havoc does not like his heartworm pills because they are not the soft chew like he had before this pack. I put them in his mouth, tilt his head back and hold his snout with the one hand. Using the free hand I rub the underside of his throat from snout to chest until he relaxes and it goes down. He has never minded my interaction but he allows me to do what I need to take care of him. I've been his his rock since 5 weeks and the first human to take care of him.

I have 2 dogs that take pills daily. I crush them and mix them with a little can food. My dogs don't eat can food, so they gobble it up. I agree with percysmom, I have done that also. But some of my dogs will run from me once they know what is going to happen. I find it easier with the ones on long term meds to crush them.
