We bought a water dispenser and they took one drink out of it and it started bubbling. Now they are terrifed of it and will not drink out of it. We have been consistant splashing it and they know where it is.

I agree with kmunson, these dispensers are breeding grounds for bacteria. If you absolutely have to use one, then use the one that allows for constant water movement. This will help in controlling bacteria buildup. In this case, if you add some yummy flavor to it, like cranberry juice, or put some kibble or other treats in the water bowl, it becomes a bit more difficult to resist the bowl, even with the glug glug noise.

Although a water dispenser is an easy solution to refilling the water bowl; I would suggest going back to either a stainless steel or ceramic water bowl. Plastic bowls and plastic water dispensers can trap bacteria that cannot be sterilized with cleaning even in the dishwasher. For longterm use you should plan on replacing the dispenser every three months.

We had the same problem. You might want to go back to the water bowel for a week or two and then try it again.

We bought one like this and had the same issue with one of the dogs. We put an ice cube in it for her and that worked Otherwise put some flavor in it.

well, i have two suggestions. first, just replace the water dispenser with a regular bowl and see if they take too it. if not, keep using a regular water bowl and mix water and pedialyte together in the dish. they will smell the sweetness and want to drink it. you can do this for about a week or so (or until they don't seem so aprehensive to use the dish) and then go back to plain old water. hope this helps!
