How does a shelter get 56,000 points in one day?

Each person can accumulate 274 pts/day for their shelter (not counting points you can get for inviting new friends to join). 56,000 divided by 274 is only 205 people getting the max amount of points in a day. This doesn't seem unreasonable. I accumulate my 274 points each day. I think that day we had around 3000 affiliated members. It would've only taken half that number to get only 38 points on that day- that is just about two journal entries and voting in pet wars. Piece of cake. That doesn't count all the new members we might've accumulated on that day- it is 50 pts for joining, 50 points to the referring individual, upload a profile pic and you have 125 points just for each new member.

We entered the contest late and I think this has been an advantage b/c we are not burned out. I am not sure I could've kept up if we had started this last fall. We have a media blitz going on here in Columbia. I am surprised when I find people who haven't heard about the contest. The TV stations, newspapers and radio stations have all picked up the story. The girls who got this ball rolling were out at local pet stores this morning passing out information about Zootoo. Last fall the CMHS was considering closing their doors due to lack of funds. Everyone here is afraid of losing the CMHS and we know they are in trouble. This contest has become a rallying effort for all of it's supporters. It is the least we can do to try and give them a chance at winning.
