Try laying her on her side and giving her a calming massage. Gently rub her sides and back and wait until she's very calm. Do this everyday for a while and then when you think she's calm try doing just one nail and see how she reacts. Sometimes it takes 2 people, one to massage and another for the nails. If she stays calm do more. If she does good BIG reward. Either treat or love whatever she likes.

I have trained my dog in a similar way, but I use cheese! She looks forward to nail trimming time--but you have to make sure that your dog associates the treat with the procedure. One (small) piece of cheese per nail.....She actually looks forward to nail trimming time...we take a little bowl of cheese along with the clipper outside and she happily jumps up on my lap and lays down for the nail trimming. Make sure to praise your dog and reward her for each nail.....before you know it...all the nails are trimmmed. Talk in a gentle reassuring voice--be patient and you will be surprised how quickly the job is done. I use a guillotine type clipper. Clip just at the point where the nail curves.

What I've done with my cocker spaniel the first time I tried clipping his claws was this. I laid him down and had a handful of small treats for him, I'd show him both the treat and clippers at the same time and for every paw that he'd let me clip-down the claws he'd receive a treat. It'll take some time for them to calm down. I've also heard that some people use the "peticure" a dremmel-like tool that'll sand down their claws. You can look it up at www.peticure.com
