Has anyone tried or know someone who's tried the PediPaws Nail Trimmer?

I don't see a review on it yet but I was wondering if anyone has info on the PediPaws Nail Trimmer. Just curious to how well it works and if it is noisy. Ever since I clipped to short one time, I hate using the clippers and I think they sense my nervousness. Buddy needs something for between trips to the groomer since he doesn't need to go as often as the others.

I *never* thought to ask this question and am so glad someone did! My dog will freak out at the sound so I'm very, very glad I read this before purchasing. Sounds like the dremel could be for me. Thanks for asking this question Denise T., and for the great answers.

I know a friend that got it. There's no doubt that the dogs freaked out by that obnoxious noise..

We use a Dremel. There is a very detailed web site showing you how to use this. If you own the regular and not the mini mite you can buy the guard from the Peticure web site if you feel you need it. They do have to get used to it but I like it best.

I bought one after seeing the commercial on TV. It looked like a great idea. My dogs were scared to death of it. I even took a week of just letting them hear it and leaving it near them, etc. like the instructions said, but they never did get used to it. One day for the heck of it, I tried it on my own fingernail. As soon as it touched me I felt as if I had gotten a sort of shock. It scared me and I was the one doing it. I kind of knew what to expect and it freaked me out. I sold it to someone looking for on off of Craigslist. I don't recommend it, but for some reason some people seem to think it's great. Not me.

I have the original, which is Peticure. The "Paws" is a lower quality knockoff which is louder than Peticure. It works great as long as you follow directions and do not keep it in contact with the dog's claw for too long a period of time. However, you can buy the battery operated Dremel, which comes in variable speed, along with their dog claw attachment, and reduce the noise even further.

It's the same as a drimmel tool. You can purchase a drimmel tool at WalMart or Lowes and if the noise scares them there is an attachment so that you have a longer cord thush less noise near the pet.

We haven't used it. But we have friends that bought it. They say the noise scared their dogs and they are basically sorry they bought it.

I just bought one for my BooBoo b/c she detests getting her nail clipped. I've used it once and it worked great, BooBoo wasn't scared of it and there wasn't any noise from it.

I use a dremmel you have to take it away from the nail a little more often then the pedipaws but you can use it for other things. Also there is no saftey guard so you can nick you own nail it not carful

I just bought one since I've been grooming and showing my dogs for about ten years. I still think the conventional hand clippers work better. I is quiet when you turn it on but it has a saw effect, where as you put it to the nail it gets louder. Merri really hated it started growling at it, but another dog chance seemed ok with it. I used it on a dog I was grooming at work, it was efficient but the time I saved I used calming the dog down. it is supposed to be safe for cats and small animals but I would not try it. Good luck!
