We've had 4 small (3.0) quakes over the last ten days and both my dogs were crazed before it happened. ...so much so that I took one of them to the vet because she was shaking so bad. After leaving the general area we live in she calmed down. her exam and blood work didn't indicate anything and when I spoke to the vet today she said two other dogs came in for examinations with the same behavior.

One of my dogs acted strangely immediately preceding the first earthquake of 3.0 magnitude. She woke from a sound sleep and sat very close to me. Shortly thereafter, our house vibrated. None of the pets showed any strange behavior during the last two quakes which were smaller in magnitude.

I once went through a minor quake with a dog and a cat. The cat was half-feral but got quite cuddly inside after the shaking, and the dog was also quite happy to keep very close. It was the middle of the night, so we all woke to it, but there were no lasting effects. I didn't get any feedback before the quake, either. As I recall, the quake was a 2.something, so maybe that was an important difference.
