Getting Cats to Get Along

Urgency:Need to know

Category: Behavior & Training

Asked by: rakubu 4 months ago

I have a mother cat and her three offspring. The kids are now almost seven years old. In the past few years, the mother cat doesn't want the two male cats to come near her. She is fine with the youngest, which is female, but she hisses and growls at the boys. All of them have been spayed or neutered, so I don't understand. She was a fabulous mom, but when she was done with the males, she was done. Both of the boys are very sweet and not at all aggressive. Is there anything I can do help them get along. It can often be very stressful and Mom tends to go and keep to herself in a separate room, otherwise she is a very socialable kitty. Loves people, loves company.

Well, sometimes mothers and sons have issues, huh?
Some cats are just "lone wolves" and like to be by themselves and away from others. There are also pecking orders in the cat herd too, that they are working with.

Feliway seems to work well with nervous cats, you could try that with her and see if it helps. Its a natural product that helps to calm cats.
