Spot On flea & tick remover is much cheaper than Frontline Plus. Does anyone know if it is as good as Frontline Plus?

I have used Advantage, Frontline Plus, and Bio Spot. They all initially worked well but I prefer the Frontline Plus. You can order it online and it's usually cheaper than through the vet.

Is your dog a whippet? I know that the greyhounds may have reactions to some types of wormers so I would be careful! Maybe it would be best to call the local vet and check with them before you make a choice!

If you have a feed store near you, you can go in there and talk to them. Thy gnerally cary most of what you can get from the vet but at a cheaper per quantity price.

I personally would stick with frontline plus. I have tried many other brands and they just dont work as well.

I have used Farnams Bio Spot for many years with great success on my dogs. It kills fleas, ticks and mosquitoes and contains an insect growth hormone that keeps flea eggs from developing into larvae. None of my dogs has ever had a bad reaction to it, but make sure that it does not come in contact with any cats.

I'm allergic to topical flea&tick medications so I give my girls Sentinel. It's a once-a-month oral pill that protects against fleas and heartworms and costs about the same as frontline. It doesn't protect against ticks (my solution was to ensure they're also vaccinated for Lyme disease and check them for ticks regularly), but I've never had a problem with fleas.

Honestly I have never found the over the counter to be as effective as those available from a vet.

The vet flea products are more expensive than say Walmart sold products but only at face value. The store brand products often do not work or worse they can cause toxic reactions in your pet that could result in expensive bills at the pet ER. It's not worth the risk.

These flea and tick medications seem so scarey and strong to me that I use what my vet tells me to use and I follow his/her directions as to their use.
