UPDATE ON THESE KITTIES!
I ended up putting a drop of advantage on each kittie and they are flea free. It has been 48hrs and they look like they are going to be fine. I decided to do that as I lost one I think she got anemic while i was trying to decide what to do. Say a prayer for my kitties..thanks for all the suggestions! God Bless!

I have a rescue that I treated with frontline 2 wks ago. I have always had that protect the kittens for the first 2 wks. This time the mom and kittens are loaded with fleas. I have been flea combing them but they are so hard to get. What are your suggestions? They are outdoors in a small building the mom comes and goes. Can I put a drop of advantage on? OR powder them with diatomaceous earth like www.http://wolfcreekranch.com says. Most of the vets I talked to said to just flea comb and keep changing their bedding. I don't think this is enough to keep them from getting anemic. Just let me know what you all think..and yes the mom is getting spayed. TIA

My neighbor will wipe the kittens down with alcohol until they are old enough to have a flea bath. I did try this on my daughters kitten that was 6 weeks old and it did work. We also washed the kittens in dawn. But if you put stuff on the kittens will the mom leave them?

When I get sings that I have flies I try an steam the areas that the cats use. I sprinkle baking soda and cedar chips (there is a nice brand of kitty litter listed in the reviews that I use) on my rugs. You may be able to do that on the areas surrounding the cats bed

Forgot something. Yes you can use Advantage on the Mom now. Also might want to treat her for tapeworms since she can get them from the fleas.

If you wet them down it makes it harder for the fleas to move and easier to catch. Start on the face with a wet cotton ball and work your way to the tail. Otherwise they go in the ears and eyes. At 8 weeks you can use Advantage on them.

I read online that for puppies with fleas you can dip them in apple cider vinegar and then rinse them off with water and it is suppose to help. i am not sure it if helps for kitten. you could ask the vet about that and see if they know anything about it or just give it a try. i dont think it would hurt to try.
