Excessive shedding dog

Add a high quality salmon oil to your dog's diet! Do it EVERY day for three weeks and you WILL see an improvement. My rotti was a terrible shedder, and had rough fur, he can only eat high quality food (with few ingrediants) and that though helps with skin, allergies and such it can cause a shortage of omega-3s and oils for the fur. I tried shed-stop and didn't see much improvement, and gave up....then later tried salmon oil and boy after two weeks there was a difference.after three a very noticeable difference in the amount of fur, though there still was some. good luck

Be careful changing foods. It takes quite a while, like 2-3 months for the full effect of the diet change to show up.

Try Shed-Stop supplement. You add it to the dog's food and it really does reduce shedding dramatically. I wrote a review about it under "products". I had an elderly Lab that was losing unbelievable amounts of hair, and this really reduces the volume, as well as improving the condition of her coat. Good luck!

Great answer from the last responder. They mentioned everything I was goig to mention. Also, it can take up to 6 months for the system to totally rid the body of previous food substances. Also keep in mind if you change to a good food, you also should change any treats being fed as well to no grain, by products, etx. A good omega oil/fish oil would be a good recommendation and hopefully you may not be over bathing to cause excessive dry skin which could cause shedding as well.

well, first of all, most short haired terrier breeds just shed aloT. Especially Pit Bulls. Especially especially those that are either white or blue. You said you've tried different foods... are you trying the right ones? Make sure the food you're feeding has no corn, no wheat, no soy, no gluten, no vegetable protein, and no byproduct. If your dog's food meets all those qualifications and your dog is still shedding excessively, you could try supplementing with omegas three and six fatty acids.
