Many of my dog friends plan their vacations to places they can bring their dogs with them. I was curious if this is becoming more common.

The majority of my vacations have been planned around taking my dog although there have been a few dogless trips.

Well, since most of our trips involve horse camping, yes, we nearly always bring our dogs with. They are SO unhappy if they see the horse trailer leave without them, and they are very good campers!

I have taken my dog on vacation, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan to go somewhere just to spend time with your dog and plan all dog appropriate activities. When I took my dog I couldn't do everything I wanted because I was worried about leaving my dog at the hotel. Plus if it's summer it's hard to travel in the heat with a dog.

yes.. but sometimes it gets a little hairy. Lake george isnt very dog friendly.. and of course .. i didnt realize it was hot rod week which made it worse.. id like to plan a trip to vermont.. Have to watch going to maine as baxter state park does not allow dogs...

Yeah, infact my last vacation was camping near the ocean with friends who all brought their dogs...I couldn't wait to take my dogs because part of the trip included a visit to a dog friendly beach where they could run off leash...and it was great not having to worry if they were lonely at home.

Although I would love to take my pets with me on vacation, I have found that it stresses them out even more. I refuse to board them at a regular vet's office though, this is way more stressful. I usually pay a friend or co-worker to stay at my home to pet sit for me. This way they can stay in their own home, and we can check on them whenver we want :O)

I enjoy my vacation a lot more if my "kids" are with me, so I bring them with whenever possible. My vacations usually consist of car trips - and they LOVE car rides - so it works out well.

We always include the dogs in our travel plans except when we leave the country. It makes our travels more enjoyable to have our companions with us. Plus, we have less to worry about if they're by our side. Now, if we can work in the cats everything would be perfect.

Yes I usually do. I love having her with us and if shes not I worry about her the entire time.

If I am taking a car trip, I take my dog with me.
If the airlines allowed pets in the cabin for flights to Europe, I would take my dog. The hotels I stay at in Europe all allow pets. I would never put my dog in cargo!
