I haven't found anything mine is scared of enough to hide. Except when I chase him after a bite or claw mark he still insists on giving me sometimes. Or a pistol grip hose nozzle that freaks him. Then he scoots to the basement for a while.

When my cat Abby is scared she usually goes inside this big red shoe bed/cat toy thing that we have. My other cat ScootBoot usually likes to be up off of the ground when he is scared. He likes to hide on the dining room chairs, on top of the bed, on top of the heating and cooling duct work in the basement or something like that. As for my puppy Cole, he doesn't really hide, but if he is scared you'll find him glued to my wife. He is over 50 pounds now, but he still gets right up in her lap if he's scared.

My cats like to go in the bathtub. Sometimes they will fight over who gets to be in it. Under the beds are the usual spots though!

My dogs son't mind thunder or fireworks, but my sons dog go right for his kennel. Whats funny is if we are somewhere else he heads for the nearest bathtub.
