Does your dog have dreams?

Our crazy Jack Russell Peanut makes all kinds of sounds, whimpering, a huffing sound and all kinds of stuff while she is asleep. She moves her feet like she's running. All this while she is sound asleep and snoring like a freight train! I usually pat her to calm her down. Wouldn't it be neat to know what goes on in the mind of dogs!?!

We have a beagle and I do believe that he dreams. When he is in a deep sleep, he starts snoring and whippering in his sleep like my better half does. He also twitches. I often wonder what he is dreaming about. A big beefy bone!!!

It sure would be neat to know what they are dreaming or thinking. We have a beagle mix and she dreams too, I believe. When she's sleeping she makes lots of noises and her legs move too. It's fun to watch, but not fun when she's in your bed and shaking the whole bed!

This isn't an expert answer to your question but I'm pretty sure that both cats and dogs have the ability to dream. I have seen both cats and dogs twitch, run, whimper and groan in their sleep. You can also see their eyes rolling...I've never seen a cat or dog "sleep walking" though...that might be quite funny if they did ;-)
