Do you use any flea protection on your pet(s)?(Frontline, Advantix?) Hot spots are mainly created by flea and other insect bites. Black flies etc. its summer so they are many hungry fleas etc out and about now. Flea control is a main issue to be handled with. Even with the treatments I have a dog with a hot spot now. My vet put her on antibiotics for the hotspots. They are painful and horribly itchy for the pets as well. The vet also has us bathing her in a non-soap shampoo. Soap can cause irritation to the skin issues already inflamed. I would recomend a visit to your vets office. For a "scraping test". They can be sure its not something else by this test. You did not mention your dogs age nor breed. This is a very important item to know as some types of dogs and cats can not tolerate certain medications. Some things that appear to be hot spots can actually be another health issue. Hope this helps and Good luck with your pets. I hope this helps you in some way.
