My dog Stoney, barks at thunder when a storm passes thru. Also he loves to bark at airplanes when they fly by. I don't really know why he does this.

i agree with one of the previous answers if you reward the behavior they are just goingto think that that behavior is ok to repeat every time it hears the noise. Just ignore your dog and see if its attitude changes then your on the way to something great

If your dog is frightened and/or reactive to these noises, whatever you do, do NOT pet your dog to try to calm them. This is reinforcing the behaior; you are telling them it's OK to act this way and even more that you WANT them to act this way. It may be hard for you, but the best thing to do is to completely ignore the dog while it is acting this way.

Mango also barks at thunder, right at the exactly place. Not airplanes. He really doesnt like fireworks either. Hopefully someone can answer that question.

Maybe he's trying to protect his territory and isn't sure what the noises or sounds are so he barks at them. My dog barks at the moon when it's big and bright.

My Dog doesn't do this but I can imagine it happening. what my German Shepherd does is Howl at Ambulances and bark at the UPS and mail men. Your dog could be Scared or trying to challenge the object. I would look it up on the internet.

Are you talking about the dog in your picture? If so, they are driven by movement. Maybe he's part bird dog?
