I have a couple that like to roughhouse. They can get really rowdy. I have another that plays fetch. We throw her ball & she races after it, brings it back, drops it at our feet & waits for us to throw it again. Animals are just animals. A lot of their behaviors are dependent on other animals they grew up with, how they were played with by people & animals, & their individual personalities. My husband had never been around cats so he always treats them the same as he treats the dogs - so they all kind of have doglike qualities. I have cats that don't even know how to meow because they lost their moms & their littermates too early. I even have one that makes a sound that is more bark than meow, probably because she was abandoned in a construction site as a tiny kitten & the only other animal there was a big feral dog. We have them both now.

My sister has a cat on her farm named Ed. Ed thinks he's a dog. He hangs with the dog up by the house, begs for food like a dog and constantly wants attention. He really likes being around people more than his buddies in the barn. He is a personality plus cat/dog.

My male cat plays kind of rough with my dog. One of my females fetches a ball when I throw it up the stairs and my nephew has a cat that "fetches" as well. I don't think your cat is weird I think we are all playing with them differently then we did when they all ran around outside.

My cat does too. I've had cats all my life and this is the first one that has ever played fetch. I think it is funny. My mom used to have a cat who was leash trained. That reminds me of dog like behavior too!

My Stubb,s plays fetch with a toy mouse. He will also play with Duke as long as Duke lays on his bed. Very fun to watch. I would say that is kinda dog like play for a cat:)

Yes, my cat actually fetches this little nerf dart that i throw. She loves the game!!!she also plays with the dogs toy more than her own because there more durable. I would love to show the video tape but don't have an adapter for the computer.

both bear and bayou sometimes like to rough house with us. Bear loves water and bayou follows you like a dog, sometimes with toys. Its cute, but a little weird.

My cat Buster plays with dog toys. He even took over my daughter's teddy bear. But the poor thing is confused because he nurses on it and humps it. lol
He does tend to lay down in the middle of doorways and won't move. Always have to step over him.

Mittens, our larger of two cats, doesn't really play like a dog - that is, like our standard poodle and lab. However, he often acts like a dog, hangs out with the dogs, and is hard to ditinguish from the dogs. Or is it the dogs that act more like a cat? I'm not sure. Will have to keep studying the situation.
