My cat is only a year old and I noticed yesterday that one of her eyes looks cloudy. Its not swollen or anything but just cloudy. Isn't she too young to have a cataract? I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow but just wanted to see if anyone out there has an idea of what it could be.

I agree with Theresa. Corneal abrasions will cause the eye to have a blueish/white hue to it. If the cat is squinting I would say that it is a good possiblity and you should get the cat to the vet asap. Your vet will do a stain test on the eye to diagnose it. And is treated with an opthalmic antibitic drop or ointment. Untreated abrasions can turn into corneal ulcers and is a bit more tricky to heal and is obviously that much more painful may possibly inpair the vision via scar on the cornea and is more difficult to get to heal. Good luck and hope all turns out well for your cat!

Your cat may be going blind in that eye, but I would take it to the vet just to make sure. Your pet is never to young to develope health problems so dont take it lightly.

I'm not sure about cats, but our youngest cocker spaniel started developing juvenielle cataracts around 1 yr. old....caused by in breeding the line too much. They can also develop them young from diabetes, we had a full blood panel done on him & he isn't diabetic.

Corneal abrasions can cause a cloudy eyed appearance. Please have the cat evaluated by a vet that has some experience in eye disorders.
