Please take your pet to a vet to be checked out.

I am not a vet either, but I would sure take them to one!! My cat stepped on a bee once and her paw swelled up to the size of my palm. The vet ended up having to remove the stinger and drain it. You never know what could have happened, so its best to let the vet take a look at it.

There is really no way any of us can diagnose your pet. If she is limping and her paw is inflamed, there is a good chance of infection. Can you see a wound, or is it just swollen? This is likely to be very painful, so she should see a vet as soon as possible. If it is an infection, there is a chance it can spread to her whole paw, or even her leg so she should be put on a round of antibiotics.
Short version - get her to a vet!

It is impossible for me to answer your question, as "the other day" could be last week sometime. If there's inflammation in the pad of the dog or cat (you didn't specify), it sounds like there could be infection from a puncture (glass? sting? splinter? ???) and a vet should look at it. I hope you'll get the cat or dog to a vet and have it looked at immediately. ZooToo is a great place, but does not and should not take the place of your veterinarian.
