Yes, yes, yes, and more yesses! All canine and felines are allergic to chocolate. They might like it but there's a specific thing that it can do to them. See below some info I looked up on the net for you with the website info below as well!
Chocolate: Although many people are aware that chocolate is toxic to cats and dogs, it's something that is commonly left on a table or counter top. Dogs may tear into a box of candy when the opportunity presents itself. In large quantities, chocolate causes coma and death. In lesser quantities, it will cause gastrointestinal problems including diarrhea. The degree of toxicity depends on the weight of the animal and the amount and type of chocolate consumed. Semi-sweet and bakers chocolate, for instance, contain more theobromine than regular chocolate, making them even more toxic to animals. Dogs love chocolate, so don't let taste be a test of what is healthy. Anything containing cocoa or chocolate should be avoided.

Dogs should never have chocolate. It can kill them. Thats why in doggie treats they use what is called carob. Iguess it tastes like chocolate but is'nt. Are you thinking A.S.A.P. As Soon As Possible?

All of the Vets at our clinic have always told us not to allow our dogs eat chocolate as it is very harmful to them.

Emergency, and thank you for reminding everyone of the dangers, sometimes people think it will never be their dog, but it may not bother them 1 time then the next time it can kill them, my dogs get carob, people can eat it too, I gt the dogs in the holistic store & mine in the health food store, tastes almost the same & is better for us, thank again you did a great service.

It depends on the dog, but why would it matter if he was allergic because they can't have any anyway.

My dog ate a whole plate of chocolate chop cookies one day and never had a reaction. somebody elses dog I know got into a chocolate easter bunny, and he was fine (the dog, not the bunny...)
A lot depends on the individual dog, the kind of chocolate and certainly the amount of chocolate.
That said, I would NEVER give my dog or anybody elses dog even a tiny bite, and after our cookie incident we make sure that she will not ever again have access to chocolate!!!Better safe than sorry!!!
About your PS - would "immediately" be the word you were looking for?

There is a toxin in the cocoa bean that chocolate is made of that can kill dogs and cats, especially if eaten in high quantities. Dark chocolate is more dangerous because it has higher levels of cocoa. Anything with caffeine in it, grapes, pointsettas, onions, garlic, nuts, tomatoes, and a few other vegetables are dangerous, too.
