I have a 8 month old mix breed. We adopted it. It was found in a garbage bag beaten. Loving, caring, awesome dog. They tell me she is Pit, German, Boxer, and Chow. It has a brendale coat. I feel she's just Pit & German. I just noticed that she sheds alot. At least alot to me but, this is my first dog. Is there anything naturally that may help the shedding not be as bad? Thanks!

There are lots of products you can use to help shedding....we have a shedding brush that we use on my dog...it's just a big rubber type brush but it helps collect the loose hair.

or 2 in the spring and end of summer. It helps to keep him cool and on the shedding. Good for you and good luck with your first dog.
The mess above was from my cat Wild. She stepped on keyboard and I decided to leave it. lol

Well I have a long haired St. Bernard. The sheddings is also bad. I comb him everynight w/a big wide womens brush from walmart. It collects the hair nicely. I also use petcare shampoo from petco. I bath him every week to get the loose hair removed. Its the nature of theses dogs. Spring and fall are the worse. they are growing there new coats.

There are many different types of shampoos that you can use that help lower the amount of shedding. But, the one thing that I would definately suggest is buying the Furmenator. It's a de-shedding tool that works great. Look on e-bay for one. You will get a great deal there!

Frequent brushing and taking the dog to the groomers will help a little. The shedding may be less in the winter time and more when the seasons change.

We use the shed ender on our German Shepherd and it works very well. We also feed pink salmon and tuna for a healthy coat. Be sure to comb outside because hair will be flying everywhere.

At this time of year is when they start to blow their winter coats, so a lot of shedding at this time is normal. If this has been going on all the time you have had her then make sure she has a lot of good omega fish oils in her diet with lots of regular brushing should help. Sometime stress in a dog will cause excess shedding especially if you see white flecks, and considering her start in life who wouldn't blame her is she were stressed. The best thing is to make sure she is on a really good, healthy balanced diet. How lucky is she to have found you.

I have a funky pit mix as well and she sheds more than any other dog I have met. We give her weekly oatmeal shampoo baths (baby shampoo works just as well,) and we brush her every 2-4 days with the Furminator. You can find the Furminator brush at Petsmart or other pet stores, and it is just a special brush that helps get the loose hairs and dirt off while also decreasing the undercoat. It has worked wonders on our dog. Once you get a routine going you should see a real improvement. Good luck!
